Highlander Events hosts trail rucking races in some of the most epic mountain and desert locations in the USA. We acknowledge the positive impact that the outdoors and completion of difficult tasks can have on our well-being, and hope to create a community of like minded individuals who too like to spend their time out of their comfort zone. As a result, we hope to make RUCKING a sport!

Be someone who does not quit in the face of adversity.

Be someone who takes charge and leads when no one else will.

Have a sense of humor because sometimes that is all that will get you through the darkest hour.

Work hard and perform even when no one else is watching.

Rucking is PRIMAL- Dating back to our hunter gatherer era and in more recent history: rucking is/was solely a military training tactic, meant to prep soldiers for long missions during which they carried their means of livelihood and weaponry along with them, on foot.

For us, rucking is simply walking, at any given speed with a weighted backpack and/or rucksack on! A practical application of rucking to a civilian may be backpacking (aka camping but carrying your means of survival on your back, while on foot).

Rucking is:

  • Endurance AND strength gains

  • Improves posture and requires engagement of every muscle in the trunk

  • Gets you outside (Think: Vitamin D, Fresh Air, Clear Mind)

  • Burns 3X more calories than walking
